Mingcong Pan

My name is Mingcong Pan (rhymes with /Ming-tsong Pan/). I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science and Agricultural & Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where I major in Comparative Politics, Development Economics, and Political Methodology.

I research ideology and institutions in China and in comparative settings more broadly. I am also interested in empirical methods of causal inference with observational data and experiments.

Prior to coming to UW–Madison, I received my master's degree in economics from the London School of Economics and my bachelor's degree in economics and finance from the University of Hong Kong. In 2023-24, I was a visiting scholar in political science at Columbia University.
