Mingcong Pan

I am a Joint Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science and Agricultural & Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. 

As a comparativist and political economist, I study the dynamics of authoritarian politics and public opinion, and the research methods, formal and empirical, that enable us to understand those dynamics.

Before, I studied at the University of Hong Kong (BEcon&Fin ’16, HKU Foundation Scholar) and the London School of Economics (MSc Econ ’17, LSE Lee Family Scholar). I was a research associate at HKU Business School in 2017-18, and a visiting scholar in the Department of Political Science at Columbia University in 2023-24.
